The Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) is an autonomous scientific society under the Indian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and is involved in training, consulting, product development, entrepreneurship and human resource development in information, electronics & communication technologies. It is based in New Delhi with a network of centers on the globe. The DOEACC Society was created by the Department of Electronics to implement a scheme of the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education), with a view to harness the resources available in the private sector for training in the Computers, with a view to meet the increasing requirement of the trained manpower. In December 2002,other Societies of the Department of Information Technology, (Dept. of Electronics was renamed as Dept. of Information Technology) like CEDT Aurangabad, CEDT Calicut, CEDT Jammu/Srinagar, CEDT Tezpur/Guwahati, CEDT Imphal, CEDT Aizwal, CEDT Gorakhpur, RCC Chandigarh, RCC Kolkata were merged into the DOEACC Society. The acronym CEDT stands for Centre for Electronic Design and Technology and RCC stands for Regional Computer Centre. DOEACC Society is now National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology
AICTE (All India Council For Technical Education) Approved Courses and Certification
National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (Formerly DOEACC Society) is an autonomous body of the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Govt. of India. The Society is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The DOEACC (Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses) Scheme, jointly developed by AICTE and DIT, was launched in 1990 after detailed deliberations in a National Working Group. The objective of the scheme is to generate high quality man-power in the computer software and allied fields by utilizing the expertise and facilities available with various institutions in the non-formal sector. DOEACC Society is the only professional examination body in India, which accredits Computer courses in 'O' , 'A' , 'B' & 'C' level approving institutes / organizations for conducting particular course, specializing in the non-formal sector of IT education and training. Government of India (Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology) has launched Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project with the aim of imparting Information Security education at different levels in the country. One of the objectives of the ISEA project is to implement a robust certification mechanism in Information Security with technical experience and guidance from Resource Centres (RC- premier institutes like IITs and IISc.) which will set the international acceptable standards with DOEACC as the implementing organization. With the above objective in the mind, the DOEACC is launching Certification Scheme in Information Security with three levels of certification scheme as a part of Information Security Education and Awareness project.
